Etude House Give Me Chocolate Review: Give Me Chocolate Shadow, Give Me Chocolate Nails

Etude House tempts us with a chocolate based collection come February. This year, it is called 'Give Me Chocolate' and as per usual, the items are good enough to eat!

Give Me Chocolate Shadow

Name: Etude House 에뛰드하우스 Give Me Chocolate Shadow 기브 미 초콜렛 섀도우
Price: US$ 8.50 for 4.5 g
Made in: Korea

These are teeny-tiny! You do get quite a bit of shadow despite the size though. They don't come with applicators so you have to use/bring your own if they make it into your makeup pouch.

#1 Cherry Truffle 체리 트러플 has a reddish brown paired with a matte coral. Both shades are buttery soft and smooth - a winner all-around!

I have a penchant for all things cool toned, so naturally, #3 Cacao Fudge 카카오 퍼지 is more to my preference. A dark cool chocolate and a shimmery yellow gold? 'Nuff said! The shadows here are drier plus the glitter particles add some grit.

I am intrigued about the texture for #2 Salted Caramel 솔티드 카라멜 . Shall I get it to do a thorough comparison?

Give Me Chocolate Nails

Clockwise from bottom: #310 Mint Choco Chip

Name: Etude House 에뛰드하우스 Give Me Chocolate Nails 기브 미 초콜렛 네일즈
Price: US$ 3 for 8 ml
Made in: Korea

The polishes feel a little diluted/watery if that makes sense? They are not as opaque/creamy as the norm. Nonetheless, they give an even coverage by the third layer.

My mouth gaped open when I caught a whiff of the delectable chocolate syrup fragrance. By gods, the team at Etude House certainly kicked it up a notch when they brought the Give Me Chocolate collection to life! Last year's Chocolate Kiss polishes didn't come with a scent (aside from the generic nail polish smell).

Etude House Play Nail #329, #330 & #331

Clockwise from bottom: #329, #330, #331

#329 - #330 - #331

Price: ₩ 2,000 - 3,000 for 8 ml
Made in: Korea

#329 Christmas Carols 메리 캐롤송 and #331 Christmas Tree Star 나무 꼭대기 작은 별 are gorgeous glitters. I can't stop admiring my nails when I have them on. Plus how perfect are they for Christmastime? I can't help but to shudder when I think of the acetone bath my nails have to endure when it is time to remove them though!

#330 Christmas Socks 머리 위 산타 양말 charmed my socks off (please ignore my tragic pun). It looks rather like an oxblood red, right? So sexy, so empowering! Even though it chips rather easily (methinks a top coat will do it a world of good), I still want to get backups. Yes, I like it that much!

Get 'em quick before the festivities come to an end! Buy here etudehouse.com.

Etude House Princess Happy Ending Review: Fairy Glitter Shadow, Rose Cheek Blusher, Apple Red Lips, Jasmine Nail Kit

The Princess Happy Ending collection literally blew my socks off. How could it not, when it whisks the whimsy of Disney and the creativity of Etude House in one breath?

Princess Happy Ending Fairy Glitter Shadow

Price: ₩ 8,000 for 4.5 g
Made in: Korea

#1 Pink Glass Heels 핑크유리구두 is a vibrant muted fuchsia. The pigmentation is great and it almost looks metallic when I apply it. To its credit, it is easily blended out for a more subtle look.

If it was toned down slightly (aka less glittery), I would be all over it. That said, the neutral shades are calling my name because the formulation is to die for. And if I may say so myself, the product brings L'Oréal's Infallible Eyeshadows to mind. Would anyone who has tried them both kindly make a comparison?

Princess Happy Ending Rose Cheek Blusher

Price: ₩ 9,000 for 4.8 g
Made in: Korea

#1 Pink Shine Rose 핑크빛 로즈 gives a natural, impossible to overdo, cute pink iridescent flush. It is maddeningly sheer, just like its predecessor, the Lock'n Summer Cushion Blusher.

Given the fancy box, I thought that the Etude House team would also place an emphasis on the packaging for the product itself. The wholly plastic ensemble lowered the heft and also made the compact feel cheap (sorry, not sorry). If a mirror was added, the situation could have been salvaged slightly. Slightly being the key word here.

Princess Happy Ending Apple Red Lips

Price: ₩ 9,000 for 3.5 g
Made in: Korea

Despite what your eyes are telling you, Apple Red Lips is a rosy red, much like a Pacific Rose apple (below) instead of the pictured Red Delicious (above). So sorry for this, my camera refuses to work with reds!

It feels light, moisturising and gives the lips a juicy shine. It does all these without compromising on colour payoff because the pigment shows up very well. If you are on my wavelength lipstick wise then please do ensure that you give it a look. I will most definitely pick up more of this and perhaps Purple Rose Lips as well?

Princess Happy Ending Jasmine Nail Kit

Price: ₩ 6,500 for 1 box (8 ml ×2)
Made in: Korea

The Jasmine Nail Kit is equipped with a gorgeous dark teal polish (#1 Antique Mint 앤틱민트) and a glittery bronze polish (#2 Magic Lamp 매직램프).

Their quality is consistent with Etude House's regular nail polish lineup, in which one is able to achieve maximum opacity with three coats. They are accompanied by a nail sticker sheet featuring charming configurations of golden lamps and swirls.

Etude House Sugar Powder Nail #192, #193 & #194

(Source: etude.co.kr/)

Clockwise from bottom: #192 Peach Bubble Gum

Price: ₩ 3,000 for 8 ml
Made in: Korea

It is so easy to get lost on etudehouse.com with their cuter than a button products and convincing descriptions. And all the merrier if they are spot on trend!

These polishes come in a creme formula. #194 is the only one amongst the three without gold shimmer particles. They don't possess as much of a wow factor as glitter textured polishes but nonetheless, they are still gorgeous (if it was not clear, I consider shimmers and glitters to be different). If you have never felt textured nail polishes, just imagine your nails submerged under a layer sand. It is gritty, unique and addictive to the touch - I find myself stroking my nails at all times.

The formula is consistent across the board. All three are patchy and streaky to apply and at least three coats are needed for complete opacity. The wear time leaves much to be desired as well for I had tip wear after two short days. The only saving grace (besides the beautiful pastel colours) is the quick dry time. All in all, I would rather go for Etude House's regular formula. Now those are awesome!

Are you into texture or do you prefer a smooth, slick finish?

Etude House Chocolate Kiss Review: Chocolate Kiss Perfumed Lip Set, Chocolate Kiss Nail Kit, Chocolate Kiss Hand Cream Set, Chocolate Kiss Perfumed Spray

For the month of love, Etude House galvanized our salivary glands into action with the delectable 'Chocolate Kiss' collection. I read somewhere that is exclusive to global stores? Let me know if you have further deets!

Chocolate Kiss Perfumed Lip Set

Content: Lip Essence 10 g / Lip Tint 3.3 g
Made in: Korea

Lip Essence 립 에센스 has a secret identity; it is actually a lipgloss! It is sticky and imparts a juicy colourless sheen. Lip Tint 립 틴트 does exactly what its name implies. This tinted lipbalm brings the lips to life with a hint of colour and supplies the lips with moisture.

Chocolate Kiss Nail Kit

Name: Etude House 에뛰드하우스 Chocolate Kiss Nail Kit 초콜릿 키스 네일 키트 #2 First Kiss 첫키스
Content: 8 ml ×2
Made in: Korea

Smooth to apply and practically a solid one coater (two to get it completely opaque), No.1 Foxy Pink is a dream to apply. The same could not be said for No.2 Baby Yellow for it suffers from the ailments commonly associated with yellow nail polishes, namely uneven and streaky application. There is something about them that flummoxes even the greatest nail polish houses, and Etude House is no exception to the rule.

Chocolate Kiss Hand Cream Set

Content: 30 ml ×3
Made in: Korea

Just when I thought hand creams could not get better, Etude House rolled out this wondrous set with three delightful flavours: Cherry Blossom 체리블라썸, Rose 로즈 and Lily 백합. They soften and nourish my paws with a bevy of plant extracts (Ulmus Davidiana Root Extract, Amaranthus Caudatus Seed Extract, Ficus Carica Fruit Extract and Prunus Serrulata Flower Extract to name a few) without leaving greasy traces.

Chocolate Kiss Perfumed Spray

Content: 150 ml
Made in: Korea

This rosy scent is sweet and feminine without being cloying or headache inducing. The longevity is severely lacking though, I could barely make it out a mere 5 minutes after spritzing it on (liberally). That said, if Etude House ever creates a matching shower gel and body lotion, I would be first in line. It is no secret that I am a rose lover...

Are you getting any of these items or did you already purchase them (considering my posts are usually on the tardy side)?

Bloop Party Nails

I am sorely lacking in skills for nail art. At best, I am a one colour wonder but when the occasion calls for it, I know I can rely on some help from a few friends...

Bloop does these stunning nail appliques - precut nail strips and stickers - in a variety of designs. They have zero dry time, and offer excellent air permeability as well as easy removal. The selling point? These strips come with nail files. How handy is that?

They last up to 7 days

This unnamed and unnumbered polish comes in a shocking neon orange shade. Despite the thick consistency, at least three coats are needed to erase translucent patches. The lasting power is on the average side - I started seeing wear to the tips the third day I had it on. The selling point? Its accelerated drying time!

From left: one to three coats

To buy, you can go to bloop-bloop.com. Cheating at nail art has never been more glamorous!

Etude House & Rose Review: & Rose Drawing Show Creamy Pencil, & Rose Flowering Nails

There is quite a lot of love going around for the & Rose collection and I am here to join the fun. Fear not, this is not the final chapter in the & Rose series on my blog because I have purchased MORE Rosy Lip Tints. Haha!

& Rose Drawing Show Creamy Pencil

Name: Etude House 에뛰드하우스 & Rose Drawing Show Creamy Pencil 앤로즈 드로잉쇼 크리미 펜슬
Price: ₩ 6,000 for 1.9 g
Made in: Korea

The two shades sent to me are BE103 Creamy Romance 크리미 로맨스 (shimmery buff) and BR404 Sunset Brown 선셋 브라운 (matte chocolate brown).

BE103 - BR404

These liners are creamy and blessed with a decent colour payoff.

BE103 - BR404

BE103 hardly deposits any colour on my lids which is weird considering how well it swatched on my hands, paper etc. BR404 is long-lasting and holds up well in unfavourable conditions (high temperature, high relative humidity, oily lids) but failed the smudge-proof test once it came in contact with my waterline. Nothing ever stays there, so this outcome does not surprise me.

BR404 is set in place with the darkest colour in Lunasol Skin Modeling Eyes Beige Beige which explains the presence of glitters

There are two other colours:

& Rose Flowering Nails

Price: ₩ 6,000 for 1 box (7 ml ×2)
Made in: Korea

1 Watery Rose comes in a set with two gorgeous polishes: No.1 Dewy Rose 듀이로즈 and No.2 Rosy Blossom 로지블라썸.

No.1 Dewy Rose, an ivory with small fuchsia bits, is a vision over dark polishes.

No.1 Dewy Rose - layered on top of a black polish

No.2 Rosy Blossom is sheer rose jelly. It is a beauty and I think that this particular shade of pink will flatter most (if not all) skintones.

No.2 Rosy Blossom - layered on top of a white polish

This set is furnished with a sheet of white lace stickers. I won't be using it, however, it will be nice to have around in case I ever decide to be adventurous with my nails. I will definitely get a backup for Watery Rose when I come across it in stores (yes, it is that lovely!).

2 Velvet Rose 벨벳로즈 is also delightful, but my heart belongs to its sister:

The & Rose collection is an absolute gem, and you need to locate it at the Etude House outlets near you!
