Burberry My Burberry Eau De Parfum

My Burberry takes its name from the affectionate way in which people refer to their Burberry trench coats. The campaign features Kate Moss and Cara Delevingne wearing these trench coats under the creative direction of Chief Creative and Chief Executive Officer, Christopher Bailey.

"My Burberry is the true embodiment of our brand, in scent, in design and in attitude. A fragrance that takes its lead from the iconic Burberry trench has to be outstanding in every way."
Christopher Bailey

Name: Burberry My Burberry Eau de Parfum
Price: RM 465 for 90 ml
Made in: France

ღ The Fragrance
The scent encapsulates the smell of walks along an English garden: the fresh rain-tipped earth, the warmth from the sunshine peeking through the clouds combined with flowers in full bloom.

Noticed the emphasis on English? Well, that is because the fragrance matches someplace cooler. To be fair, any garden in the world will do as long as it has spring and autumn seasons. The sensorial experience that I painted doesn't seem as vivid in a warm climate. Then again, that could be me just being finicky, haha!

◆ Top notes: Sweet Pea, Bergamot
◆ Heart notes: Geranium, Golden Quince, Freesia
◆ Base notes: Damask Rose, Centifolia Rose, Patchouli

My Burberry easily brings me from day to night but my favourite time to mist it is before I cop some z's. It stays on until I roll out of bed in the morning - pretty impressive considering I tend to flail about when I sleep. If this can't be taken as a testament to its longevity, then I don't know what can.

I feel like a million dollars the moment I spritz some on. How did Burberry do it? Or is magic afoot? It will be pretty hard for a fragrance to kick it off its current standing in my heart!

ღ The Flacon
The entirety of the bottle reflects the details of the Burberry trench coat: the shape of the horn-finish cap (buttons on the coat), the fabric of the hand-tied knot (English-woven gabardine) right down to the colour of the precious liquid (signature honey shade).

The same meticulous detailing went into the box as well, where the gold lined interior is embossed with the iconic Burberry check design.

Burberry Beauty Velvet Foundation Review, Swatches, FOTD

I received a personalised goodie bag from my makeover at Burberry Beauty a few months back and in it were a tube of Lipstick Cover in Sepia Pink and a bottle of Velvet Foundation that I am about to review.

Burberry Velvet Foundation gives the skin a soft-focus velvet finish that lasts all day.

Inspired by the iconic trench coat, its lightweight, breathable texture gives gentle protection from the natural elements.

The innovative oil-free formula uses wild rose extract to hydrate the skin and effortlessly combines long wear with extreme comfort. (Source: us.burberry.com/)

Name: Burberry Beauty バーバリー ビューティ Velvet Foundation ベルベットファンデーション Trench トレンチ No.201
Price: RM 175 for 30 ml
Release: August 2012
Made in: Italy

The shade I have is Trench 201, a light ochre. Even though it leans towards the beige side, I still see the need to dust some yellow based powder over it. My undertone is obviously too yellow for my own good.

If you are lighter than I am, Burberry might not be the place to go. I am pretty dark and I am wearing the lightest shade. Medium skin tones should fare well since there are seven other shades in the range.

It has a thick creamy consistency which leads to the components settling and separating, so always shake before use. It takes a while to dry - you can slowly blend and smooth away without worrying that it will streak. Apparently you get the best results using your fingertips or a sponge if you prefer more coverage.

Despite the thick consistency, it does not feel like I am actually wearing foundation. It dries to a matte finish without the flatness that you usually associate with matte foundations.

The coverage is medium. It evens out discolourations and light blotchiness here and there but you will need to use concealer for dark circles, blemishes, hyperpigmentation and the like.

A short two hours later, my T-zone starts to show oil breakthrough. And Burberry claims this foundation is geared towards combination and oily skin types? Hmmm... Nevertheless, it stays on the rest of my face beautifully throughout the day. It also holds up well around my mouth area which is a surprise because I am always munching on something.

Do you need this foundation? Yes and no. If you are an oil slick like me, then no, there are better foundations out there for you. But if you have normal to dry skin, I would suggest that you march straight to the counter and get yourself colour matched.

Burberry Beauty is available exclusively at Isetan KLCC. Call +603-2026 1022 for more information!

Are any of you interested in getting four sample sachets each for this foundation? The shade I have is Trench 205, which will not suit all of you but it will be helpful for you to test the texture in case you want to commit to a full sized bottle.

To win, e-mail me with the subject Burberry Velvet Foundation Trench 205 Giveaway and I will pick five winners randomly. This giveaway is open internationally and will end on January 17th 11:59 pm MST. Giveaway ended - thank you!

Burberry Beauty Lip Cover Sepia Pink Review, Swatches, LOTD

Lip Cover was released in July 2010 and since then has become a must-have in makeup pouches everywhere.

Burberry Beauty's Autumn/Winter 2012 collection saw the release of more Lip Covers. The collection also comprises of a new Velvet Foundation and three additional shades to the Sheer Eyeshadow lineup.

Price: RM 96 for 3.8 g

The lipstick has a lot of little details that you come to expect from designer brands that have made a foray into beauty products.

The iconic Burberry check pattern etched onto the lipstick bullet and the tube is very sleek. The self-aligning magnetic closure provides a satisfying click sound when I slip the lid back on.

It has a nice heft that I usually associate with high end products. However, I find it to be unnecessarily clunky and don't even get me started on the reflective gunmetal grey casing. Here is how it compares to another fingerprint magnet, Lunasol Full Glamour Lips S, which is also ensconced in a square tube.

Yes, despite all the complains, the packaging is indeed très chic!

Sepia Pink is rosy toned mauve taupe. It looks unremarkable when swatched but I promise that you will love it on your lips. I would imagine it being flattering on both fair and tanned skintones.

It looks very natural on my pigmented lips which brings the term my lips but better in beauty blogging lingo to mind.

It feels very moisturising on and glides easily with a lot of slip. It even works well on lipbalm free lips. Colour payoff is pretty decent with two swipes yielding considerable coverage.

Since it is so creamy and all, it doesn't resist eating or drinking. You will certainly need to touch-up afterwards. On its own, it will last an hour or two maximum before wearing off.

Do I need more Lip Covers? Beyond a doubt, yes! I tend to favour glossy and moisturising formulas and this lipstick definitely fits the bill. And once I factor in the pleasing aesthetics... it is really a no-brainer.
