Lafine Vegetable Firming Massage Cream

Like all things from Lafine, the Vegetable Firming Massage Cream utilises vegetables (cucumber, carrot, watercress, tomato and parsley) to deliver vitamins and nutrients to the skin. It is designed to comfort the skin and soothe the effects of overexposure to the sun.

Name: Lafine 라피네 Vegetable Firming Massage Cream 야채 딥 마사지 크림
Price: ₩ 17,000 for 200 ml
Made in: Korea

Directions state to apply generously and gently massage from the inside to the outside using circular motions on the affected areas. Then wipe off with a damp face towel or cotton pad. The thick cream softens the skin slightly, which sad to say, is the full extent of its abilities.

Never thought I would say this, but Firming Massage Cream is a remix of Deep Cleansing Cream. They have identical scents, the same consistency and even their ingredients are similar, except that the placement is switched up slightly aside from Petrolatum (addition) and Microcrystalline Wax, CI 19140 and CI 42090 (omittance).

Is it a massage cream? Is it a cleansing cream? Is it supposed to be used interchangeably? Lafine, make up your mind!

The full ingredient list for Vegetable Firming Massage Cream:
Water, Mineral Oil, Glycerin, Petrolatum, Cetearyl Alcohol, Ethylhexyl Palmitate, Polysorbate 60, Glyceryl Stearate, PEG-100 Stearate, Sorbitan Sesquioleate, Propylene Glycol, Cucumis Sabvus (Cucumber) Fruit Extract, Daucus Carota Sativa (Carrot) Root Extract, Oenanthe Javanica Extract, Solanum Lycopersicum (Tomato) Fruit/Leaf/Stem Extract, Carum Petroselinum (Parsley) Extract, Carica Papaya (Papaya) Fruit Extract, Scutellaria Baicalensis Root Extract, Stearic Acid, Catalpa Ovata Bark/Leaf Extract, Dimethicone, Butytene Glycol, Zea Mays (Corn) Starch, Iron Oxides, Hydroxypropyl Methylcellulose, Ascorbic Acid, Tocopheryl Acetate, Chromium Oxide Greens, Iron Oxides, Ethylhexylglycerin, Glyceryl Caprylate, Carbomer, Phenoxyethanol, Triethanolamine, BHT, Disodium EDTA, Fragrance.

Before - After

Price: ₩ 47,000 for 35 ml
Made in: Korea

This is my second go at a white coloured Catalina Geo base (third overall if I include the blue base). I feel like I have said all I need to say previously, so I won't bore you by reiterating any of them here. Aside from the bit next about blending the primer out carefully.

Y'know, instead of having something in your teeth, you have a lot of somethings on your face, which is equally annoying embarassing. So yes, beware of the trail of crushed pearls!

And here are my old posts in case you are interested in having a nose:

Lafine Vegetable Foam Cleansing

Name: Lafine 라피네 Vegetable Foam Cleansing 야채 폼 클렌징
Price: ₩ 14,000 for 120 ml
Made in: Korea

Ahhh, the cleanser that would have ranked first in 2015, if not for the pesky scrubby beads. I am still of the opinion in 2016. Maybe even more, because the cleansing device that I pair it with simply vaporises the beads. I can't even feel them or see where they went to. It is brilliant really! And for that, I would award it 6 stars (up from 5 in 2015, ha!) à la @cosme (Japanese beauty portal, where products with 7 stars are even rarer than an Articuno).

Read my old post here.

The full ingredient list for Vegetable Foam Cleansing:
Water, Glycerin, Stearic Acid, Sorbitol, Lauric Acid, Potassium Cocoyl Glycinate, Potassium Hydroxide, Myristic Acid, Propylene Glycol, Cocamide DEA, PEG-150 Stearate, Sorbitan Olivate, Catalpa Ovata Bark/Leaf Extract, Carica Papaya (Papaya) Fruit Extract, Cucumis Sabvus (Cucumber) Fruit Extract, Daucus Carota Sativa (Carrot) Root Extract, Oenanthe Javanica Extract, Solanum Lycopersicum (Tomato) Fruit/Leaf/Stem Extract, Carum Petroselinum (Parsley) Extract, Ethylhexylglycerin, Glyceryl Caprylate, Scutellaria Baicalensis Root Extract, Butytene Glycol, Zea Mays (Corn) Starch, Iron Oxides, Hydroxypropyl Methylcellulose, Ascorbic Acid, Tocopheryl Acetate, Chromium Oxide Greens, Iron Oxides, Disodium EDTA, BHT, Triethanolamine, Phenoxyethanol, Fragrance, CI 19140, CI 42090.

Hansaeng Cosmetics Rin Bi-gyeol Yun Cream

I was bemused when the Rin Bi-gyeol Yun Cream landed in my postbox. As you may or may not remember, I reviewed the Rin Bi-gyeol Soo Cream nearly a month ago. In a nutshell, they contain similar-ish ingredients but Soo leans more towards the moisturising side whereas Yun is for nourishment purposes.

And what's the difference between a moisturising and a nourishing cream? This page will help you!

Name: Hansaeng Cosmetics 한생화장품 Rin Bi-gyeol Yun Cream 린 비결 윤 크림
Price: ₩ 44,000 for 50 g
Made in: Korea

Rin Bi-gyeol Yun Cream is a moisturiser composed of fermented ginseng and an oriental medicine flower complex (called 단화연 in Korean) that is made up from 10 valuable extracts including Phellinus Linteus and Mulberry to deliver highly enriched nutrients to the skin, leaving it supple and smooth.

It is a non-sticky cream that absorbs fairly quickly into the skin. Sensorial wise, it is rather like the Soo cream aside from the balmier texture. The colour also distincts them; Soo is a pale blue whereas Yun comes in a delightful caramel shade.

My skin has been parched and crappy and riddled with holes - no thanks to an excess of pimple creams – a bit like the desert really. The Rin Bi-gyeol Yun Cream has been stepping up to the plate in inserting plumpness to my face. A dollop in the morning and night, and my skin looks dewier and a lot more alive than it would do otherwise.

It costs ₩ 44,000 for 50 g at lamy.co.kr. A fair price really, considering how nourishing it is!

The full ingredient list for Rin Bi-gyeol Yun Cream:
Water, Glycerin, Octyldodecyl Myristate, Hydrogenated Polyisobutene, Petrolatum, Neopentyl Glycol Diheptanoate, Cetearyl Alcohol, Synthetic Wax, Butylene Glycol, Niacinamide, Polysorbate 60, Sorbitan Sesquioleate, Dimethicone, Lactobacillus/Panax Ginseng Root Ferment Filtrate, Sodium Hyaluronate, Cercis Chinensis Flower/Leaf/Stem Extract, Uncaria Sinensis Extract, Paeonia Lactiflora Root Extract, Glycyrrhiza Glabra (Liquorice) Root Extract, Polygonum Multiflorum Root Extract, Phellinus Linteus Extract, Morus Alba Bark Extract, Sophora Angustifolia Root Extract, Cimicifuga Racemosa Root Extract, Sesamum Indicum (Sesame) Seed Extract, Angelica gigas Root Extract, Scutellaria Baicalensis Root Extract, Carthamus Tinctorius (Safflower) Flower Extract, Trifolium Pratense (Clover) Flower Extract, Papaver Rhoeas Petal Extract, Pueraria Thunbergiana Flower/Leaf/Stem Extract, Hibiscus Sabdariffa Flower Extract, Squalene, Chrysanthemum Indicum Flower Extract, Ophiopogon Japonicus Root Extract, Codonopsis Lanceolata Root Extract, Magnolia Liliiflora Bud Extract, Astragalus Membranaceus Root Extract, Betaine, Glyceryl Stearate, PEG-100 Stearate, C14-22 Alcohols, C12-20 Alkyl Glucoside, Ethylhexylglycerin, Glyceryl Caprylate, Tocopherol Acetate, Adenosine, Carbomer, Triethanolamine, Disodium EDTA, Phenoxyethanol, Fragrance, CI 19140, CI 15985.

Lafine Vegetable Deep Cleansing Cream

The Lafine Vegetable Deep Cleansing Cream (there is a foaming cleanser too, reviewed here and here) includes cucumber, carrot, watercress, tomato and parsley to nourish and moisturise.

Name: Lafine 라피네 Vegetable Deep Cleansing Cream 야채 딥 클렌징 크림
Price: ₩ 15,000 for 200 ml
Made in: Korea

I massage it to dry (dirty) skin, wipe off using damp cotton pads, and follow up with a good rinse. It is supposed to completely remove makeup but it struggles on the stubborn, waterproof stuff... then again, nearly everything has trouble with that!

To my horror, it leaves an oily film after rinsing - even my cleansing oils don't do that! A second cleanser is a must with this cleansing cream. Not one for me, but that may have more to do with my requirements and skin type than a problem with the product itself.

The full ingredient list for Vegetable Deep Cleansing Cream:
Mineral Oil, Water, Glycerin, Ethylhexyl Palmitate, Cetearyl Alcohol, Polysorbate 60, Glyceryl Stearate, PEG-100 Stearate, Sorbitan Sesquioleate, Propylene Glycol, Catalpa Ovata Bark/Leaf Extract, Carica Papaya (Papaya) Fruit Extract, Cucumis Sabvus (Cucumber) Fruit Extract, Daucus Carota Sativa (Carrot) Root Extract, Oenanthe Javanica Extract, Solanum Lycopersicum (Tomato) Fruit/Leaf/Stem Extract, Carum Petroselinum (Parsley) Extract, Ethylhexylglycerin, Glyceryl Caprylate, Scutellaria Baicalensis Root Extract, Butytene Glycol, Stearic Acid, Dimethicone, Microcrystalline Wax, Zea Mays (Corn) Starch, Iron Oxides, Hydroxypropyl Methylcellulose, Ascorbic Acid, Tocopheryl Acetate, Chromium Oxide Greens, Iron Oxides, Carbomer, Disodium EDTA, BHT, Triethanolamine, Phenoxyethanol, Fragrance, CI 19140, CI 42090.

Hansaeng Cosmetics Rin Bi-gyeol Soo Essence & Cream

My skin gets along really well with hanbang skincare, so I knew I wouldn't have to worry when the Rin Bi-gyeol Soo Essence and Cream dropped on my desk.

Rin Bi-gyeol Soo Essence

Name: Hansaeng Cosmetics 한생화장품 Rin Bi-gyeol Soo Essence 린 비결 수 에센스
Price: ₩ 46,000 for 50 ml
Made in: Korea

With flower extracts at its core – 10 in all - as well as fermented ginseng, niacinamide and adenosine, the Rin Bi-gyeol Soo Essence works to replenish and restore moisture to the deepest levels of the skin, leaving it dewy and radiant.

It is a watery liquid that packs a phenomenol punch in the moisture department. This serum is one for those who want visible results from the very first application. The morning after saw me with brighter and more supple skin. I was straightaway sold, of course.

The fact it comes 50 ml in a bottle makes this rather good value for money. A sentiment that seems rather silly when it costs ₩ 46,000, but worth saying anyways because a little goes a long way.

The full ingredient list for Rin Bi-gyeol Soo Essence:
Water, Butylene Glycol, Glycerin, PEG/PPG-17/6 Copolymer, Niacinamide, Propanediol, Lactobacillus/Panax Ginseng Root Ferment Filtrate, Hydrogenated Polyisobutene, Neopentyl Glycol Diheptanoate, Clylomethicone, Dimethicone, Dimethicone/Vinyl Dimethicone Crosspolymer, Sodium Hyaluronate, Cercis Chinensis Flower/Leaf/Stem Extract, Uncaria Sinensis Extract, Cimicifuga Racemosa Root Extract, Angelica Dahurica Root Extract, Bletilla Striata Root Extract, Trichosanthes Kirilowii Root Extract, Amomum Xanthioides Seed Extract, Eugenia Caryophyllus (Clove) Flower Extract, Vigna Radiata Seed Extract, Gleditsia Australis Thorn Extract, Broussonetia Papyrifera Bark Extract, Nardostachys Chinensis Root Extract, Carthamus Tinctorius (Safflower) Flower Extract, Trifolium Pratense (Clover) Flower Extract, Papaver Rhoeas Petal Extract, Pueraria Thunbergiana Flower/Leaf/Stem Extract, Hibiscus Sabdariffa Flower Extract, Squalene, Chrysanthemum Indicum Flower Extract, Ophiopogon Japonicus Root Extract, Codonopsis Lanceolata Root Extract, Magnolia Liliiflora Bud Extract, Polygonum Multiflorum Root Extract, Astragalus Membranaceus Root Extract, Sodium Acrylates Copolymer, Lecithin, Diethoxyethyl Succinate, Polysorbate 80, Tocopherol Acetate, Adenosine, Ethylhexylglycerin, Glyceryl Caprylate, Scutellaria Baicalensis Root Extract, Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer, Triethanolamine, Disodium EDTA, Phenoxyethanol, Fragrance, CI 42090.

Rin Bi-gyeol Soo Cream

The Rin Bi-gyeol Soo Cream feels very light in comparison to the other anti ageing products but it is very effective and a joy to use to boot. The light blue colour has something to do with it I suppose, although the more sensible part of me wonders at the need of colourants to an otherwise excellent formula.

I find that this moisturiser really suits my combination skin: it has just the right amount of juiciness to give a face that practically bounces the morning after plus it is not too rich that I break out in hives.

Both the essence and the cream aren't shy on the floral front. It is almost like applying perfume to your face - worrisome really, because fermented products aren't supposed to smell so good artificial - but I needn't have, because these products more than made up for it efficacy-wise.

The full ingredient list for Rin Bi-gyeol Soo Cream:
Water, Glycerin, Cyclopentasiloxane, Hydrogenated Polyisobutene, Neopentyl Glycol Diheptanoate, Cetearyl Alcohol, Butylene Glycol, Niacinamide, PEG/PPG-17/6 Copolymer, Stearic Acid, Polysorbate 60, Lactobacillus/Panax Ginseng Root Ferment Filtrate, Sodium Hyaluronate, Cercis Chinensis Flower/Leaf/Stem Extract, Uncaria Sinensis Extract, Cimicifuga Racemosa Root Extract, Angelica Dahurica Root Extract, Bletilla Striata Root Extract, Trichosanthes Kirilowii Root Extract, Amomum Xanthioides Seed Extract, Eugenia Caryophyllus (Clove) Flower Extract, Vigna Radiata Seed Extract, Gleditsia Australis Thorn Extract, Broussonetia Papyrifera Bark Extract, Nardostachys Chinensis Root Extract, Carthamus Tinctorius (Safflower) Flower Extract, Trifolium Pratense (Clover) Flower Extract, Papaver Rhoeas Petal Extract, Pueraria Thunbergiana Flower/Leaf/Stem Extract, Hibiscus Sabdariffa Flower Extract, Squalene, Chrysanthemum Indicum Flower Extract, Ophiopogon Japonicus Root Extract, Codonopsis Lanceolata Root Extract, Magnolia Liliiflora Bud Extract, Polygonum Multiflorum Root Extract, Astragalus Membranaceus Root Extract, Betaine, Sorbitan Sesquioleate, Glyceryl Stearate, PEG-100 Stearate, Adenosine, Tocopherol Acetate, Paraffin, Microcrystalline Wax, Ethylhexylglycerin, Glyceryl Caprylate, Scutellaria Baicalensis Root Extract, Dimethicone, Carbomer, Triethanolamine, Disodium EDTA, Phenoxyethanol, Fragrance, CI 42090.

They are not widely available, though I can't even begin to fathom why. Now, how am I going to get my paws on more once I am done with them??

Catalina Geo Color Capsule Make Up Base Blue

Without - With

Name: Catalina Geo 카타리나 지오 Color Capsule Make Up Base 컬러 캡슐 메이크업 베이스 Blue 블루
Price: ₩ 47,000 for 35 ml
Made in: Korea

If you think this make up base looks familiar, then you are partially correct because I have reviewed the white version earlier on. But the one I have here is blue, so it deserves a whole new page to itself! As a side note, I believe that Catalina Geo and I-Miix are the same entity - they changed up their names as a marketing strategy.

The pearl blue shade adds radiance to fair skin, and reduces minor imperfections. You don't need to dip your face in a vat of this stuff; a pump is plenty enough. You wouldn't want to turn into a smurf, right? Haha! Jokes aside, the effect is subtle but it imparts enough impact that it would be wise to bring it down to the neck.

I would like to reiterate that dabbing vigorously is a must with this product. My friend sweeping away bits of crushed pearls stuck to my face is not a memory I like to relieve often *hangs head in shame* For those interested, my previous review is just a click away for a deeper understanding of the formulation, texture and longevity.

Lamy Cosmetics Real 97% Rice Paper Eating Mask Pack

Get It Beauty (a Korean beauty show) extolled the virtues of using rice paper as masks and it got so popular that brands decided to come out with their own! I would like to make them too but poking holes for my eyes and nose can be too much of a bother, so I shall stick to the ones manufactured by factories, hahaha~

(Source: lamy.co.kr/)

Name: Lamy Cosmetics 라미화장품 Real 97% Rice Paper Eating Mask Pack 리얼 97% 라이스페이퍼 이팅 마스크팩
Price: ₩ 6,000 for 20 ml
Made in: Korea

There are 3 variations altogether in Lamy Cosmetics's version: Black Rice 흑미, Green Tea 녹차 and Turmeric 강황. Each of them come with their own essences (Black Rice promises to brighten, Green Tea for moisture and Turmeric to firm), which you would use to soak the rice paper. Once the mask bloats up has drawn in the essence, slap it over your face and let it stay on for about 20 minutes.

These essences are enhanced with patented herbal ingredients including rh-EGF capsulised with Lecithin, Rosebud, Uncaria Rhynchophylla and fermented Red Ginseng to nourish and enable even the most sensitive skin to be able to use them without experiencing irritation. As a side note, I believe that these rice papers are edible, hence the name 'eating'.

The masks smells like the rice found in the kitchen while the essences are lightly fragranced. All in all, very natural and it didn't feel like I was applying something harmful on. The essence completely soaked into my skin once the 20 minutes was up. My face was exceedingly smooth to the touch, pores minimised and lines less obvious! I thought I was seeing things at first until I got confirmation from others! You bet I admired my own reflection for a long while! *coughs*

On top of my skin!

Anyways, they are not as convenient as regular hydrogel masks but they certainly make up for it with the awesome results. One other con would be the price, but otherwise, they are an excellent option to go for when your mug needs a little rejuvenation.

Lafine Vegetable Foam Cleansing

Name: Lafine 라피네 Vegetable Foam Cleansing 야채 폼 클렌징
Price: ₩ 14,000 for 120 ml
Made in: Korea

Vegetable Foam Cleansing has a fresh, vegetal scent. It is only natural seeing as it is composed from cucumber, carrot, watercress, tomato and parsley. To make it even more appealing, it is free from parabens, benzophenone, talc, animal oil and triclosan.

It is a typical foaming cleanser. Upon closer inspection, the paste like cream contains little colourful beads, like what you would see from a physical exfoliator. They are not plentiful; sparse enough that you don't feel like you are giving your face a good scrubbing yet copious enough that you can feel them there.

I fail to see the purpose of the granules aside from entering my eyes thus irritating them, but I highly doubt this is what Lafine had in mind when they formulated the cleanser. Plus this is supposed to be a low-irritation cleanser, and the presence of these particles steers it more to the abrasive side. Can anyone please shed some light on this mystery?

The rich foam is capable of removing sunscreens - I found no remnants for my toner to pick up. I haven't put it to the task of removing makeup though, nor do I plan to in the near future. I keep all my makeup removing to cleansing oils.

This cleanser does its job without stripping my skin. There are some that make me run for a moisturiser immediately after washing my face. But not this one. I could even get away sans moisturiser if I was so inclined. Full marks if it didn't come with the beads.

The full ingredient list for Vegetable Foam Cleansing:
Water, Glycerin, Stearic Acid, Sorbitol, Lauric Acid, Potassium Cocoyl Glycinate, Potassium Hydroxide, Myristic Acid, Propylene Glycol, Cocamide DEA, PEG-150 Stearate, Sorbitan Olivate, Catalpa Ovata Bark/Leaf Extract, Carica Papaya (Papaya) Fruit Extract, Cucumis Sabvus (Cucumber) Fruit Extract, Daucus Carota Sativa (Carrot) Root Extract, Oenanthe Javanica Extract, Solanum Lycopersicum (Tomato) Fruit/Leaf/Stem Extract, Carum Petroselinum (Parsley) Extract, Ethylhexylglycerin, Glyceryl Caprylate, Scutellaria Baicalensis Root Extract, Butytene Glycol, Zea Mays (Corn) Starch, Iron Oxides, Hydroxypropyl Methylcellulose, Ascorbic Acid, Tocopheryl Acetate, Chromium Oxide Greens, Iron Oxides, Disodium EDTA, BHT, Triethanolamine, Phenoxyethanol, Fragrance, CI 19140, CI 42090.

I-Miix Magic Capsule Silky Make Up Base White

Second up from the treasure trove that is my August BNTNews beauty box is I-Miix's Magic Capsule Silky Make Up Base. I have not heard of I-Miix prior to this, so I was really happy to add a new brand to my lexicon.

Name: I-Miix Magic Capsule Silky Make Up Base 매직 캡슐 실키 메이크업 베이스 White 화이트
Price: ₩ 47,000 for 35 ml
Made in: Korea

Formulated with Corn Extract, Yeast Extract and Vitamin E, Magic Capsule Silky Make Up Base boosts and refreshes tired skin while protecting it from the elements for a flawless canvas all day long. It has extremely distinctive spherical particles that I can marvel over all day long.

The pearls are crushed by the pump mechanism resulting in a pearly white gel. This formula is best smoothed out with a sponge wedge because it is also able to sweep away bits of pearls. It provides a beautiful powdery canvas once it dries down and has a floral scent that is reminiscent of my lilac Castledew primer that I finished an eon ago.

The pearl white shade provides a fine layer to blur the appearance of fine lines, bringing luster back to the skin. With this primer, you can get away with using it all over your face (unlike coloured primers where you only use them over specific areas) for it imparts the most subtle effect. What's more, it even brightens slightly!

Without - With

I find that it does not add longevity to my base makeup seeing as the foundation on my T-zone faded after a couple of hours. Additionally, it fails to stave off oiliness. However, it does prevent foundation from creasing around my mouth area which is a surprise considering how often I munch on something.

It is better suited for someone with drier skin who is looking for a moisturising base that brightens. I would have appreciated it a whole lot more had my skin be less oily!

The full ingredient list for Magic Capsule Silky Make Up Base:
Water, Titanium Dioxide, Glycerin, Propylene Glycol, Mineral Oil, Squalane, Cetearyl Alcohol, Triethanolamine, Polysorbate 60, Stearic Acid, Algin, Glyceryl Stearate, Sorbitan Sesquioleate, PEG-60 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Agar, Carrageenan, Methyl Paraben, Allantoin, Carbomer, Magnesium Aluminium Silicate, Imidazolidinyl Urea, Disodium EDTA, Propyl Paraben, Tocopheryl Acetate, Cellulose Gum, Yeast Extract, Zea Mays (Corn) Kernel Extract, Sodium Hyaluronate, Fragrance.
