The month of February has been one of discovery. New products trickling in kept my mind away from the sweltering, unrelenting heat that continues to suffocate (even now at the time of writing).
First up is Mild Peeling Lotion. It is from Hada Labo, a brand well known for its moisturising products.
Mild Peeling Lotion is the ideal product to introduce AHA's to my regimen. The AHA used in this lotion, Gluconic Acid, works as a mild exfoliant to slough away accumulated dead skin cells on the skin's surface. The benefits are twofold: an improvement in the absorption of nutrients while simultaneously restoring skin hydration, leaving skin smooth and supple.
I use it immediately after cleansing with a cotton pad. The consistency is on par with water... perhaps the slightest bit more viscous? It is nothing like the texture of the famed Super Hyaluronic Acid Moisturizing Lotion.
It absorbs quickly and does not strip the skin of moisture. I am currently subscribed to a 'no night cream' school of thought and Mild Peeling Lotion has proved to be more than sufficient to soothe my skin. That said, if you have dry skin, you might want to follow up with a hydrating serum.
As with all Hada Labo products, this lotion is free from fragrance, alcohol, colorant and mineral oil - a boon for users who prefer to shun unnecessary ingredients in their skincare products. The blurb says for dull and oily acne prone skins but, in my opinion, all skin types will benefit from it.
A word of caution: it is advisable to load up on your sunscreen and limit sun exposure while using this product. AHA's may increase your skin's sensitivity to the sun and particularly the possibility of sunburn.

This sounds interesting! Thank you for reviewing. I like Hada Labo products, especially the UV Whitening Emulsion. It was a great sunscreen and need to get more.
ReplyDeleteI've never tried this brand but after reading your review, I am convinced to give it a try. I'll see if I can find it in my city now :)
ReplyDeleteI am experimenting with something very similar in my routine, thank you for sharing! <3 GIG
ReplyDeleteah I am close to finishing this! i really like it as it does help to slough away dead skin cells without being too harsh. It reduces the number of times I do facial scrub now. I don't use this everyday though, it's a little drying for my cheeks area. I normally use this together with a hydrating lotion and then moisturizer before bed. :D
ReplyDeleteAs I currently live in China, I see this brand a lot but I have yet to try it. I'm generally wary about trying new skin care brands but maybe I will give this a try :)
ReplyDeleteNever heard about this product but I'm always looking forward for any peeling lotion. It seems interesting. I wish it's available locally here so I can try :)
ReplyDeleteI've never tried a peeling lotion but this sounds like a great product - Thank you for the great review! <3 GIGLove

ReplyDeletehada labo is one of those crazy brands with amazing products and my ultimate fav from them is still their moisturizing milk and lotion...
never try hada labo mild peeling lotion before but its looks like a great one, but i dont really like the 'sunburn' effect if i wear anything with AHA ingredients >_<
ReplyDeleteSounds interesting! Haven't heard of the brand before but its full ingredient list sounds simple enough to be safe for me to use.
ReplyDeleteHow does a peeling lotion work? Do you apply it, then peel off later, or just wash off?
ReplyDeleteHi! In this case, saturate your cotton pad and swipe it all over your face - like a regular toner. Then follow up with serum, moisturiser etc
ReplyDeletePrue sama! Every other day then? Perhaps I should ease up on it too? What facial scrub are you using? Any recommendations?
ReplyDeletei am using kiehl's brightening scrub, which is very nice! a little goes a long way :D
ReplyDeleteI never heard about this brand before, but this looks like a really great product. Loved reading about it. :)

ReplyDeleteI've never heard about Peeling Lotion before... weird idea but I can see it working ;-)
ReplyDeleteNice review, though I steer clear from products with AHA. Dont want to get more burned hehe
ReplyDeleteI love anything Hada Labo! I thought when I read 'peeling lotion' that it would be like the exfoliants you rub onto your skin and it starts flaking off, haha.
