Hada Labo recently expanded its facial cleanser repertoire with Deep Clean & Blemish Control Face Wash, Deep Clean & Pore Refining Face Wash and Hydra & Whitening Face Wash.
These pH balanced cleansers are enriched with Bentonite Clay (draws impurities) and the brand's signature ingredient, Hyaluronic Acid (encourages water retention) amongst other beneficial ingredients to address different concerns (which will be mentioned later). Additionally, they are alcohol, colourant, fragrance and mineral oil free.
Deep Clean & Blemish Control Face Wash is fortified with Wild Pansy Extract (contains natural Salicylic Acid) to control and prevent blemishes. And while it left my face feeling comfortable, it showed signs of being the culprit for my flaky, peeling nose. The formula is too harsh for my skin type but would be perfect for oily and acne-prone skin.
The full ingredient list for Deep Clean & Blemish Control Face Wash:
Water, Lauric Acid, Glycerin, Stearic Acid, Cocamidopropyl Betaine/Water, Potassium Hydroxide, Butylene Glycol, Palmitic Acid, Acrylates Copolymer/Water, Glycol Distearate, Polyquaternium-7, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Cocamide DEA, Potassium Cocoyl Glycinate/Water, Stearic Acid/Disteardimonium Hectorite, Disodium EDTA, Methylisothiazolinone/Iodopropynyl Butylcarbamate/Water, Glycerin/Water/Viola Tricolor Extract, Sodium Hyaluronate.
Deep Clean & Pore Refining Face Wash includes Alpaflor ALP-sebum, an ingredient with proven efficacy to regulate sebum secretion. The concentration is too minute for me (doesn't prevent oil from forming whatsoever)... It works great as a no-frills foaming cleanser though and is ideal for oily skin with visible pores.

Hydra & Whitening Face Wash has Resveratrol (the heart of Caudalie's Vinexpert range), an antioxidant that intensifies brightness and employs Fucosorb to provide moisture. My face can't discern the differences between this cleanser and Deep Clean & Pore Refining Face Wash, so much so that I use them interchangeably.
Nonetheless, Hydra & Whitening Face Wash is getting the special treatment and will come along with me for my upcoming trip. All skin types will benefit from this cleanser and not only those with dull and dry skin.

The size of a pea is enough to whip up a dense, lovely lather. These cleansers remove impurities and daily grime, leaving the skin feeling fresh and moisturised without any of the tightness or dryness that you would associate with foaming cleansers.
My sole criticism regarding these cleansers is the Sodium Laureth Sulfate content. I thought that this is worth a mention because some may prefer to avoid exposure to this particular chemical.
You can easily get hold of the Hada Labo Face Wash range at all leading pharmacies nationwide. All the more reason to indulge at RM 20.90 a piece!

I love the fact that your review was very detailed. Not a lot of people mention the fact of Sodium Laureth Sulfate's content being too much in a product which you did 'coz I'd hate to be exposed to it either.
ReplyDeletexx Chaicy - Style..A Pastiche!

Too bad I can't read anything on it's packaging! Lol anyways, I think it's a good one to have, right?
ReplyDeleteGiG
well too bad that I think Hada Labo doesnt really suit my skin :/
ReplyDeleteThanks for your reviews, I have flaky skin myself, so I am pleased about your honesty!

i'm interested in trying this line since i'm fond of their toner. (and i don't mind SLS ;))
ReplyDeletethanks for the review!
wouldnt mind trying this. sounds like itll fit me as i have blemished skin
ReplyDeleteHmmm I was wondering if i should try the pore refining one...but now that you mention there's not much difference, maybe I won't after all
ReplyDeletegreat review, very detailed!! too bad about the sodium laureth sulfate, that stuff should be banned from products by now!
ReplyDeleteI am very particular with the ingredients. Thanks for
ReplyDeletelisting it up. I won’t buy that item for sure. giglove
That looks like a really great cleanser. I'm in search of a new one, I wonder if I can find this in the US. GIG
ReplyDeleteDo you think that any of these cleansers are suitable for people with normal-dry skin? T
ReplyDeletei love hd face wash! would love to try these :D

I definitely avoid products with SLS as much as possible. I know it creates a nice lather, but I don't like putting it on my skin. I'm interested in the use of bentonite clay. I recently used some kaolin clay in a skincare experiment. Unfortunately, that didn't work out so well. I was wondering how bentonite might work differently.

Why didnt i read this earlier? Anyway, bought the hydra & whitening face wash two days ago. And today, i notice reddish bumps on my forehead. :( i think it must be SLS causing it. Im not sure. I was using Garnier Light Gentle Clarifying before this. My skin was ok. Now i figured maybe its really the SLS that's causing my red bumps. :(
ReplyDeleteHi Optimus! Yeah, it would be wise for you to stay away from products with SLS.
ReplyDeleteMay I ask what cleanser you use? I have not use any products for two months already because my skin gets peeled off. My skin is either combination or sensitive.
ReplyDeleteHi Smile^^! SkinLife Medicated Acne Care and Oxy Deep Cleansing Wash. You'd be better off with gentle cleansers geared towards sensitive skins though...
ReplyDeleteYeah, though backing away from cleansers is doing good for my breakouts, I still don't feel refreshed with my skin. I might buy the SIMPLE cleanser product. Any recommendations from you would be great too! :) ah I'm a Malaysian too.
ReplyDeleteWhat about soaps from Gamila Secret or Ah Yuan? They use natural ingredients and come in many variations.
ReplyDeleteWah, hm, I will look into that. Also may I suggest a product review on konjac sponge from you? It's an all natural product and the price ranges from RM 10 -50 (RM 9.90 @ COSWAY) I read your reviews and it's pretty helpful. ^^ Hope to see more from you.
