Daiso Delights

Updated on 17.12.2012.

I think regular readers know that I adore luxurious Japanese products, but I find that some cheaper products work just as well or even outperform the expensive ones! And when I think of Japanese product that are sold for peanuts, Daiso automatically comes to mind. I realized that I never really reviewed any of the items that I've purchased from them, so here is a quick compilation of my likes.

Nose Pack or Natural Pack Masque

Great at getting gunk out from comedone infested areas. You can choose either the white or black paste, up to your preference. Personally I prefer the Nose Pack (white paste) as it packs more punch.

After a period of time, Nose Pack (white paste) becomes so goopy that it is rendered useless. Natural Pack (black paste) gets my love these days.

Facial Mask Sheets

The fabric feels pretty soft; it's not as rough and nonabsorbent as some other brands (random drugstore) that I've tried. I prefer another pack also from Daiso which is made in Japan compared the one pictured (made in Taiwan) but I only had this left. Kanebo Kracie also has these masks, but I'm not going to pay ¥ 500 for something that I can get for ¥ 100 (or in this case ¥ 210).

Eyebrow Coat

Fantastic stuff, keeps my unruly brows in place all day long.

Detergent For Puff And Sponge

I have a couple of the detergent in their old school labels as I went on a hoarding craze a while back *shifty eyes* It is really good at getting makeup out from sponges.

Dryness Spray For Nail

It doesn't dry my polish in seconds but it does make them shinier, last longer before chipping and also half the drying time. It basically acts like a top coat.

Enamel Remover

It removes nail polish very quickly and cleanly without drying my nails out overmuch. However, it has this offensive, overwhelming scent.. I overlook it since it works so well~ It is even better than removers that are five times its price, so it definitely merits a repurchase and a spot in this list.

If you have any recommendations, please share them in the comment section! And have you tried any of the items mentioned?

PS: Please excuse the weird names, I wasn't the one who came out with them haha!

Wahhh! I heard so many good things about the nose packs! I should probably actually get round to finding one. I bought the detergent too but I hardly use sponges these days too. Although I find it's pretty good for getting foundation stains out of some white-tipped brushes that sometimes don't budge using shampoo.

Oooh eyebrow coat and the rest of the things look interesting!

I have the packs and the detergent :) Do you find the nose pack has a sticky/stringy consistency? I don't know if I have a dodgy tube or not lol.

May I also recommend the blushes too? :P

Yay! I love daiso! I was always a little wary of their beauty products but when I go back to Japan I'll be sure to take a look. Actually I did use their nail polish remover (which they called 'Nail Remover') which was good, but the smell was pretty overwhelming.
I read on cosme that one of the daiso mascaras is really good, not sure which one but it's near the top of the rankings of tubing mascaras.

so envious that you can go to daiso shops! I hear that the sponge/puff detergent is really good for washing foundation brushes too!

The puff & sponge detergent is good for brushes but it never works on my sponges. I haven't seen the dryness spray for the nails but I'm going to Daiso today so I'll look out for that!

Great Daiso likes! I think i shall hunt around for the eyebrow coat ^___^ Haha, the white nose pack does work better but i think it smells a lot worse than the black one >.<;; haha, the nail polish remover doesn't seem to work on my nails :/ i agree with the smell too.. too strong of acetone or ammonia.. whatever's in it XD

Don't worry mine is the same! Sometimes I don't even get to admire the gory gunk pulled out, the paste stick together when I'm in the midst of peeling it off...

I love Daiso Eyeshadow palettes - amazing and amazingly cheap!

The products in this entry cost ¥ 100 (or I should say ¥ 105 with tax) each except for the Facial Mask Sheets. Super inexpensive yes? =D

Oh really, that's even better. xD Inexpensive is the best kind of price.

Really cool items, been to Daiso so often but haven't discovered any of these except the black pore pack. Thanks for introducing them to me! Another trip to Daiso soon to check them out.

I wish we had stores like this in the US. I would love to be able to get more drugstore Asian brands easily.

Hi Blair, My kids are teens now and didn't go to any costume parties.  I'll look for old pics of them to post--they were so cute!

Hey Blair! I was late in replying to your comment on my blog, so I'm putting the link to the mascara here as well.

Can you believe it's no.10 in the mascara rankings!?

When I first bought the Eyebrow Coat back in late 2009, they gave the description that you can use it as a 'topcoat' for your eyeshadow. Been using that ever since, keeps my eyeliner on without it fading, and keeps my eyeshadow in place (primer works, but this is just for assurance :D )

Now, i'm about to finish it, been looking for it in ALMOST every Daiso store i can find and there is none :(

Just wondering where ( & when ) did u bought yours?

Blair said...

Any Daiso outlet in Malaysia will have it. Good luck in your hunt!
