Sunplay Skin Aqua Silky BB Cream SPF29 PA++

I snapped a Sunplay Skin Aqua BB Cream the moment I saw that it was discounted at RM 39.90 (≈ US$ 13.09) instead of the RRP at RM 59.90. Nothing is more attractive than a sale!! This is my first time wearing BB creams in a long while, I sworn off them as the one that I was using previously broke me out.

Sunplay is a Japanese brand under the Mentholatum umbrella, but this BB cream is made in China. The back of the box mentioned that it was developed in collaboration with a Korean company.

Description: Sunplay Skin Aqua BB Cream helps you achieve the natural flawless look with 7-in-1 function: sunblock, oil control, concealer, whitening, moisture, anti-aging and foundation.

Name: Sunplay Skin Aqua Silky BB Cream SPF29 PA++
Price: RM 59.90 for 40 g
Made in: China

It comes in two variations, Moisture and Silky. Moisture is for normal to dry skin whereas Silky is designed for normal to oily skin.

It looks dark and ashy when dispensed but it lightens and matches my skintone (my foundation shades are mentioned in my Beauty Stats) once on my face. It smells exactly like Banana Boat sunblocks, so you might want to avoid this BB cream if you hate this scent.

The consistency of this foundation is creamy, slightly thick but it blends and spreads easily. It is completely foolproof to apply and a little goes a long way. I apply it with a wet makeup wedge or a foundation brush.

The coverage is medium... it evens out my skin tone well although I still need to use concealers. I like the matte finish, but since it’s matte, it doesn’t look that natural nor dewy. Do note that for some reason, it tends to emphasize dark circles.

Silky is pretty good at holding up against oil through the day, I only needed to blot once. My T-zone didn’t look particularly shiny at the 5th hour mark (I usually blot after 4 hours). After priming and setting with powder, this BB cream stays flawless even after a long day (and by long day I really mean looong day as in 20 hours long).

I'd definitely recommend oilier skinned babes to give Silky a try!!

Sunplay’s Skin Aqua BB Cream series are sold at all leading pharmacies and hypermarkets nationwide. You can also get them from sasa.com for US$ 16.80 each.

The jewelry and lace in the background of the photos give them a very romantic feel. How do I volunteer for the macaron tasting committee??? I've never even had one. So I wouldn't be comparing them to others, just deciding if I like them or not. They look tasty, so I'm thinking I would love them.

Japanese brand made in China developed by a Korean company - THIS!

This BB Cream looks perfect if it works as promised. But this is a nightmare to emphasize dark circles!! Though its ok if still can add some concealer. Even like this, still looks like a good deal buying this.
Thank you so much for sharing!!

I notice that this product contains a lot of 'cones' so it may have been the reason why you broke out before from other bb creams (they probably contain a few 'cones' as well!).

yikes to the banana boat smell! hahaha i think im gonna pass this one... i want to try the nanoce bb cream, have u tried it? :)

RYC: we have Lunasol counters here but items are usually more expensive (hello Value Added Tax!) So i just wait for promotions where they give off 15% off. Plus they don't get the new collections in time for the seasons! :\

May i know where you bought this BB cream?? Can i get it at Watson or Guardian? I'm currently using Skin79 and Dr.jart bb cream. My face get oily just after few hour, especially when i'm not in an air-con room. Kinda annoy me, always having oily face when taking picture. Look like this BB cream wrok well for oily skin??

Sunplay has bb creams now?! *O*

I've heard that bb creams from Japanese brands are distinctly different from Korean brands. I'm not sure though cause I've only tried Skin79 one and I found that it feels quite heavy, but it does even out my skin. Thanks for your review! I heard that the Mentholatum bb creams are good (from a youtube guru haha) I really wanna try!

I agree this is better for oiler skinned ladies. I am a patchy mess of dry and oily so this was a bit too harsh. Excellent review!!

I like a few Mentholatum products so I was really curious about your post. The BB cream looks dark enough for my skintone. hehe, with BB's I often have to look out if they are not too light, whereas with Western brands the foundations are often too dark. So good you gave this heads up.Sunplay seems to have lots of countries involved, originally Japanese from Mentholatum, produced in China in made in collaboration with a Korean company.

this Korean BB cream broke me out a while ago too so I stopped using it. for $16.80 that's not bad for the price if you say that it's good!

Nice to hear you're venturing back to bb creams again! It looks really good on your skin judging firm the swatch! Have a great weekend too dear :)

Woah, sounds like a wonder product! I wish they sold bb creams over in North America. I can only find them in Asian makeup stores!

Blair said...

wowww~ this BB cream looks great! I definitely need to try this when i finish my skin 79 one. The color doesn't look grayish, which is good. since my skin 79 tends to leave a grayish hue to my face. :( but thanks for the review!

The oil control seems pretty good, now I'm interested. Does this break you out?

really hate this BB cream. its too grey-ish for my skintone. it only comes in 1 shade. i look like a granma after wearing it.

Blair said...

Hello miew! Such a shame the shade it comes in doesn't suit you as the formulation is really good.
