Max Factor usually releases exclusive products for the Japanese market. These items are more intricately designed plus the price point is also much higher! The Eye Gradation Colors palettes is a good example of a Japan only release.

Packaging: Practical and sturdy compact. In other words, plain and nothing special about it hahaha~~ The casing is a fingerprint magnet AND it attracts scratches like bees to honey.

Colour: There are eight quads available in this range, they have more if you include the limited edition quads released for fall 2009 and spring 2010. The two quads that I own are Pure Purple and Chic Monotone.
Pure Purple has purple, lavender, pale pink and sparkly greyish violet shades (clockwise from bottom left).

I loooove the multidimensional shimmers in these quads~ Do enlarge the flash swatches for a closer view =]
Texture: I’m baffled by Pure Purple’s chalky and sheer texture when Chic Monotone is smooth and has fabulous colour payoff. Thankfully the shadows in Pure Purple show up when layered on top of a cream base. They are both easy to blend and pretty long lasting, my only caveat is they crease slightly → this might be caused by the cream base though
Purples and greys are one of my absolute favourite combos, thus throwing them together is the best way to utilize them!
Other products used:
- NYX Jumbo Eyeshadow Pencil Lavender
- Kate Super Sharp Liner BK-1
- L'Oreal Voluminous Volume Building Mascara Black
- Taiwanese Princess cross 5 lashes (公主假睫毛交叉5)
I’m fairly attracted to Max Factor Japan’s fall 2010 quads, how can I resist them when they are named Cherry Chocolate and Caramel Chocolate?!! but I’m worried that the texture will be subpar *sniff*

Nice EOTD, Blair! Love the combination of colors!
Why are all the good stuff released in Japan exclusively? I don't even like Max Factor normally, and they also got those Kit Kats! I should really save up for Japan, haha. Thanks for the review!

ouh, nice makeup :p I so like metallic shadows!
omg, this collection is absolutely gorgeous! so pretty ♥ it reminds me LUNASOL XDD
Max Factor looks so much better in Asia!
These two Max Factor palettes look beautiful! I think the plummy shades are so hot for this fall.
I love how intense and vibrant the colors turn out on your eyes! Really pretty, Blair!
these are pretty. the japanese version max factor is so much better than the ones we have here.
purple and grey look super on you too.
Blair, and I wanted to say that I always drool over how YOU take your pictures! Too adorable! <3
Wow! Nice EOTD you have there. The Pure Purple quad looks really nice but too bad the texture isn't that great.
The quads look absolutely amazing! I'm gonna have a look at the drugstore when I get back to UK. =)
p/s: if they have it though *fingers crossed*
hello blair loves! the revlon quads look super pigmented, pure purple is attractive, sorry to hear the texture was chalky :{
your eotd is beautiful! you're so good at blending those pigments! work it girl! :D
All the cool stuff is available in Japan only! Wacky flavored Kitkats.. pretty makeup.. sigh. I'm liking Chic Monotone, but Pure Purple looks amazing on you. Must hunt these down somewhere.. Thanks for sharing! ^^
I like both of the quads you reviewed, the purples were especially lovely. The green quad would be my choice because I never go for green, but these are a bit out of my price range. Thank you for sharing the review!
i see false lashes! yay for the lashes!
I am glad that you are enjoying the palettes and putting them to good use Blair.
Oooh Blair the colours look gorgeous on you!!! I really like the second quad as I'm a magnet for cool tone palettes myself hehehe Geez I remember seeing Max Factor in Canada in the 90's but it's like they pulled them all completely off the shelves since I haven't seen Max Factor since then :(
gosh they look good. it makes me envious that the max factor items here don't look as nice as those in asia!
thanks for swatches.
Love this EOTD. Very well done....esp your eyeliner. I don't have super steady hands so admire peeps who can do sleek, skinny lines - lol!
I never paid attention to Max Factor but now you've got me looking at these palettes twice...
WOWSERS!!
You EOTD is stunning.
these ae so pretty! oriental things are always so much prettier than western stuff...even simple eyeshadows like this! thanks for sharing...would love to get my hands on one of these! e-mail me if you ever wana do a swap hehe.

Super gorgeous eyes!! *___* I love how you combined the colors and how nicely blended everything is.. I know what you mean about chalky textures though- I'm super picky about texture and pigmentation myself hehe.
Btw I'm picking up my MAC VV stuff from the store tomorrowww! I will do a post veryy soon on what I got, cuz it's a bit many to type here hehe... :P
what pretty palettes!! i must go look up some, hahaha.
Wow! what a stunning eye makeup!
Btw, the Max Factor quads really looks like Lunasol quads.
How's the texture compare to Lunasol?
Blair !! Ur Eotd is so gorgeous! Luv the purple palette - colors look pigmented and blendable
Blair ♥ I've just tagged the four things tag!
http://pixiedw.blogspot.com/2010/09/i-got-tagged-4-things-tag-d_30.html
hopefully you would like to do this tag =D!!
The primer is...TINY! I guess I was thinking it'd be foundation size...however I tend to go through primers much faster than foundations because as you say, I too have a big face :X I'll show you how big it is comparatively soon. It's a little big disappointing :(
Hehhehe kk it'll be a good inspiration for a post! ;)
Wow Japan Max faxctor palettes are super pigmented! your eotd is so pretty!
I cant remember Japan's Max factor's model's name but I think she is such a natural beauty!
You always make the products look great--the Blair factor!
I feel much better, thank you. =)
Hi melissam!!
I am indeed, thanks to you!! *mwah*
Hi Blair, I'm kind of SLR beginner. I can't say it's tips but I find lighting is pretty important to take good pictures.
I'm using Nikon D60 and my friend Xian is using Nikon D300.I choose "more vivid" function when I took portrait.
wow! U really look good with purples and greys! I'm so digging the ur last pic, the one u had eyeshadow on
so smart to swatch it on a paper towel! All the colors look great
Those quads look beautiful! I love your bright and vivid EOTD!
thanks for swatches.
